A few thoughts on Personal Injury Cases:
Most people injured in automobile accidents or in any other way do not know who to turn to for
advice. The insurance company adjuster will usually be involved quickly, gathering evidence,
taking statements and building their case. They are moving rapidly to protect the insurance
company. The first few days and months following an accident are the most critical time in
your case.
DO'S AND DONT'S WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN INJURED
- DO take photographs of the vehicles, dog or other evidence and of your injuries.
- DO preserve any evidence.
- DO report the accident to your insurance company.
- DO make sure the police are called to the injury scene before anyone leaves.
- DO tell your doctor of your injuries.
- DO make sure your doctor writes down what you tell him or her. (The insurance company will never believe your injuries unless they appear in your medical records.)
- DON'T discuss fault. ("Fault" is a complicated legal question. Just tell the police officer what happened.)
- DON'T deny you are injured. (If you tell the police officer you are not injured, it will show up that way on the accident report. You may only feel your injuries after the shock of the wreck wears off.)
- DON'T give a statement to the other person's insurance company.
Our first goal is to negotiate a fair settlement. If the insurance company makes that impossible, then our second goal is to prepare your case for trial and win a fair result.
You can trust your lawyer to produce the best possible result for you. You can trust the insurance adjuster to produce the best possible result for the insurance company.
